Frequently Asked Questions
About Therapy
-
Your first session is about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. I'll ask about your background and current situation, but we'll go at your pace. There's no pressure to share anything you're not ready to discuss.
-
Everyone's journey is different. Some people feel better after a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll check in regularly about your progress and adjust as needed. The goal is to give you tools you can use on your own.
-
That's actually pretty common. Sometimes it's about finding the right fit with a therapist, or trying a different approach. What didn't work before can help us figure out what might work better this time.
-
Yes, I find that practicing skills or tracking behaviors between sessions helps us make progress toward your goals. But I want these to feel manageable and fit into your real life. We'll work together to figure out what makes sense for you.
About My Approach
-
I use a combination of CBT, attachment-focused therapy, mindfulness, and somatic techniques. This means we work with your thoughts and behaviors, explore relationship patterns, practice present-moment awareness, and pay attention to how things show up in your body. It's about having different tools available depending on what you need.
-
While I specialize in women's mental health, I work with anyone who feels like my approach might be helpful for them.
-
CBT focuses primarily on thoughts and behaviors, which is incredibly helpful. My integrative approach includes that but also pays attention to your body, relationships, and life story. Think of it as having more tools in the toolbox.
Practical Questions
-
No, I do not accept insurance. Working outside of insurance means we can focus on what you actually need without external restrictions. When requested, I am happy to provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement.
-
Yes! I see clients both in-person in Las Vegas and virtually throughout Nevada. Virtual sessions are just as effective for many people and offer more flexibility.
-
You can use the "Book a Consultation" button on my website. I typically respond within 24-48 hours.
-
I totally understand that life happens! I just ask for at least 24 hours notice when you need to cancel or reschedule. If it's less than 24 hours, you'll be charged the full session rate.
-
Yes, with very limited exceptions (like if there's imminent danger to you or someone else). I take your privacy seriously and will explain confidentiality limits in our first session.
Getting Started
-
If you're reading this, you're probably already considering it, which is a good sign. Therapy can be helpful whether you're in crisis or just want to understand yourself better and develop new tools.
-
That's completely normal! Most people feel nervous before their first session. We can talk about those feelings, and I'll do my best to help you feel comfortable.
-
For individual therapy, sessions are typically just you and me. But we can discuss what feels most comfortable for you.
-
That's what I'm here for! I'll help guide our conversations, especially in the beginning. You don't need to have it all figured out before we start.
-
You should feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. If something doesn't feel right, we can talk about it. Finding the right therapist is important.
Remember: Every person's experience is different, and I'll work with you to find what feels right for your unique situation.
