Why Adults Seek Support

Where ADHD can get in the way.

Your experience may look different from someone else's. These are common reasons adults bring ADHD-related concerns to therapy.

Starting and finishing tasks

You know what needs to happen, but getting started or following through can be unexpectedly difficult.

Managing competing demands

Deadlines, schedules, and everyday responsibilities pile up, leaving you unsure what to tackle first.

Emotions and self-criticism

Frustration, sensitivity to setbacks, or feeling constantly behind can affect confidence and how you treat yourself.

Communication and relationships

Forgetfulness, interruptions, or mismatched expectations can lead to misunderstandings. For support as a couple, explore Couples Therapy.

ADHD in Men and Women

Different experiences, not fixed rules.

Adults of any gender can experience inattention, restlessness, and impulsivity. Sometimes expectations and coping patterns affect what gets noticed or overlooked.

Men and ADHD

When challenges are more visible.

Some men describe outward restlessness, impatience, impulsive decisions, or conflict around follow-through. Others have quieter attention difficulties that went unrecognized for years.

An ADHD experience isn't defined by how active someone appears.

Women and ADHD

When the effort stays hidden.

Some women spend years compensating through overpreparing, reminders, or perfectionism. New responsibilities or life changes, including perimenopause for some, may make longstanding patterns harder to manage.

Women can also experience visible hyperactivity and impulsivity.

These are possible patterns, not stereotypes. People of any gender can have any ADHD presentation, and your own experiences guide our work together.

What Therapy Looks Like

Less pressure to try harder. More room to find what works.

We can look at where tasks get derailed, what happens before emotions escalate, and how expectations at work or home contribute to stress.

I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with attachment-informed and trauma-informed perspectives, to help you respond differently to self-criticism, communicate needs, and build practical supports that fit your priorities.

Your work in therapy may include experimenting with realistic routines, navigating relationship patterns, and considering how sleep, stress, and life transitions affect daily functioning. The approach is collaborative, not a one-size-fits-all productivity plan.

Questions You May Have

Frequently asked questions.

Can I begin therapy without an ADHD diagnosis?

Yes. You can seek therapy for attention-related stress, emotional overwhelm, or difficulties in daily life without having a formal diagnosis.

What if I'm doing well at work but struggling at home?

That experience is worth talking about. Therapy can focus on the demands and patterns that are difficult for you, even if other people don't notice them.

Can anxiety and ADHD-related challenges overlap?

Yes. Difficulty managing demands can coexist with persistent worry or avoidance. Therapy can explore how these concerns interact; you can also read about Anxiety Therapy.

Will therapy be focused only on organization and productivity?

No. We can address emotions, relationships, self-worth, and what matters to you, while exploring strategies for everyday challenges when they're useful.

How often do we meet, and where are sessions available?

Appointments are generally every other week or monthly. In-person sessions are available in Northwest Las Vegas, with online therapy for adults physically located in Nevada. Individual sessions are $160 for 50 minutes.
